Who should apply to the Emerging Leaders Internship program?
The Emerging Leaders Internship program is a paid summer internship for students who are currently in their 3rd or 4th year in a bachelor's program that are interested in future full-time opportunities at American Signature. Students who identify with a group that is historically underrepresented in the workforce, including but not limited to Black, Hispanic, Native American, and female students are encouraged to apply. We are committed to building the leaders of tomorrow.
What is the scope of the program?
The program lasts for 9 weeks (June-August) and includes core functional work, special projects, and leadership development. Our program’s goal is to attract and prepare these students for future opportunities within our organization
What kinds of training opportunities are available within the program?
Outside of core project work, interns have the opportunity to take advantage of the learning and development programs American Signature offers. We encourage interns to invest in themselves and grow their personal and professional skills. Through our internship program, we offer a professional development series, leadership speaker series, and community building activities to connect with team members all over the company.
FINANCE INTERN
We are looking for a driven Finance Intern with a basic understanding of financial principles, analysis and problem solving, who is ready for an immersive, real-world experience.
Under the supervision of our staff, the Intern can expect to participate in the preparation of financial reports, analyze actual financial data, development of ad-hoc analyses, join team meetings to discuss financial performance, and assist with other financial activities. The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.
As the Finance Intern, you will:
- Build financial models that shine a light on uncertainties in the business for the purpose of encouraging dialog and positive change.
- Be comfortable with handling ambiguous situations with a knack for getting to the root of issues.
- Learn how to work as part of the Finance and Accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company.
- Meet deadlines and handle multiple objectives in a fast-paced environment.
- Utilize financial system applications, including: General Ledger (Lawson), MicroStrategy (MSI), and AS400.
- Perform ad-hoc reporting as needed.
- Shadow members of the department as they perform their duties.
- Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
- Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
- Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about finance and office operations.
The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting majors
- Advanced PC skill proficiency, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Attention to details
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across all levels
- Proactive, independent thinker with the ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
