The Associate Accountant supports the accounting department by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close processes, preparing journal entries, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. The Associate Accountant will be a trusted partner to various departments within the Company, particularly to store personnel to ensure daily and monthly operational procedures are functioning appropriately to allow their focus to remain on the customer. This position reports to the Accounting Lead.

The Associate Accountant supports the accounting department by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close processes, preparing journal entries, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. The Associate Accountant will be a trusted partner to various departments within the Company, particularly to store personnel to ensure daily and monthly operational procedures are functioning appropriately to allow their focus to remain on the customer. This position reports to the Accounting Lead.
Some of the capabilities the Associate Accountant will possess:
· Baseline knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance principles, including a foundational understanding of financial statements and key metrics
· Ability to think critically and ask thoughtful questions to understand situations and uncover the root of issues
· Desire to learn and understand the operations of our business and our products
· Ability to read and interpret data, as well as understand what the metrics are measuring
· Collaboration and the ability to build relationships and trust with internal and external business partners
Some of the functions the Associate Accountant will perform:
· Complete daily cash balancing reporting and forecasting
· Reconcile and record store cash deposits and communicate daily with store personnel to lead reconciliation efforts and resolve issues
· Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and balance sheet accounts
· Complete monthly close tasks, including posting journal entries and preparing supporting documentation for management reports
· Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP
· Participate in process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the accounting department
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Internship and/or up to 2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with accounting software a plus
- Strong attention to detail and dedication to accuracy
- Highly self-motivated and curious
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
· Ability to flex and adapt to shifting priorities
